Students in grades K-5 are busy making music at Creekside!
Kindergarten
K students are learning a spanish lullaby, Arrorro mi niño. They are also playing rhythm instruments by rote using 6/8 meter.
First Grade Second Grade
First grade students are learning the song, Bow, Wow, Wow. They are also playing rhythm instruments using 6/8 meter.
Second graders are becoming more musically literate as they read and play rhythm patterns in 6/8 meter. They are also beginning to sing in canon.
Third Grade
Third graders are playing rhythm patterns in 6/8 and decoding them. They are also singing in harmony using chord tones from the I and V7 chords.
Fourth Grade
Fourth Grade Students are moving up in the recorder dojo as they earn their white, yellow, green and orange belts! They're using solfege to play their recorders in harmony. They're also continuing to sing in canon.
Fifth Grade
Fifth grade students are playing piano! Be sure to ask them about their first song, Lavender's Blue. They are also sight-reading on the piano and they can play the major scale in the key of C.
